Favorite material of architects and designers from ancient times, marble can make almost any design look excellent. However, the appearance of the natural stone’s surface may be ruined by spills, rust, and other kinds of stains. In the recent Xiamen Aofei Building Materials blog article we have covered how to deal with the most common stains on marble surfaces: stains from water, organics, and oils. Today we will go on with the topic, and explain what to do with rusty stains on this gorgeous natural stone material.
Rusty Stains
One of the best methods when dealing with stains from rust on marble surfaces is to use a poultice. You can either buy one in the store or make one yourself. For the homemade version, you will usually need water, baking soda, and a small amount of hydrogen peroxide. The ratio of the ingredients may vary depending on the severity of the stain. But remember, that you should never use any harsh substances such as lemon juice or bleach on marble since they may damage the surface.
After picking or making your poultice, apply it to the stained area, cover it up with a plastic wrap and leave for 24 to 48 hours. After removing the wrap and the poultice, you should find your marble surface as it was brand new!
